Weakley County Man Sentenced to 30 Years
Jackson, Tennessee-
JEREMY SNIDER, 31, of Weakley County was sentenced in the
United States District Court today announced David Kustoff,
United States Attorney for the Western District of
Tennessee. Chief Judge James D. Todd imposed a total
sentence of three hundred sixty (360) months in prison.
SNIDER was sentenced to 30 years for six counts related to
conspiracy to manufacture over 50 grams of methamphetamine,
possession of materials to manufacture methamphetamine, and
as a felon in possession of a stolen firearm during and in
relation to the charged drug trafficking crimes.
SNIDER was convicted at trial on July 6, 2007. The evidence
at trial showed that SNIDER conspired with others
coconspirators to obtain the necessary materials needed to
manufacture methamphetamine and was aided and abetted by
others in the actual process of manufacturing
methamphetamine. After a warrant was obtained for the
arrest of SNIDER, he evaded arrest and led officers from
both Martin Police Department and Weakley County Sheriff’s
Department on a month long manhunt before being taken into
custody. According to Investigator Marty Plunk with the
Weakley County Sheriff’s Department, at the time of the
arrest, SNIDER was found in possession of a stolen firearm
and all the necessary ingredients to manufacture
methamphetamine.
The investigation was handled by the
Martin Police Department and the Weakley County Sheriff’s
Department. Assistant United States Attorney Jerry Kitchen
handled the case for the Government.
