The City of Martin Fire Department (MFD) has long recognized the importance of maintaining a close relationship with the citizens we serve. In an effort to further promote this relationship, the MFD has developed a program called the Citizen’s Fire Academy (CFA). This dynamic 8-week program has been designed to provide participants with an inside view of the organization and operations of the City of Martin Fire Department while promoting citizen interaction with the firefighters of the fire department.

The curriculum includes live demonstrations, classroom learning, and hand-on experiences all of which are designed to give the participant a true feel for the service provided by MFD. Best of all, the entire program is free and open to anyone 18-years-of-age or older who either lives or works in Weakley County.

Each academy is 8 weeks. Classes meet on week day evenings beginning at 6 p.m. for snacks and drinks with the class. Classroom and hands-on activities run from 6:15pm – 9pm.  Graduation night will include a catered meal for the participant and his or her immediate family preceding the ceremony.

Classes are held at Buster Williams Headquarters Station at 106 Neal Street.

Classes in the CFA are taught by professional, career firefighters and include:
