The City of Martin is a bustling city and educational hub in Northwestern Tennessee. Our city is 12.4 square miles with great access to both Jackson, 49 miles away and Memphis, 114 miles away. Martin is home to The University of Tennessee at Martin campus and 11,473 residents; the population of this peaceful city nearly doubles in size when college is in session due to an influx of students.

The City of Martin Fire/Rescue/EMS Department is committed to serving the community, with a mission statement and a defined set of goals and objectives. As an ISO Class 3 career department, with 42 full-time personnel operating from 3 stations, the department has 4 Engines, 1 Aerial, 3 Medic Units, 1 Rescue, 1 Brush Truck and 1 Special Operations Trailer to meet the needs of the public. All ranks in the department contribute to special projects that help support and move forward this mission. These projects further the objectives of improving our services for all those who rely on us in times of need.

The department personnel are highly trained and certified in numerous specialties. Beyond the routine firefighter and officer certifications, they are also certified in HAZ-MAT Operations, Paramedic, Advanced Emergency Medical Technician, Emergency Medical Responder and Vehicle Rescue. To ensure prompt response to medical emergencies every personnel is trained in American Heart Association CPR as well as the use of Automated External Defibrillations (AEDs). These devices are installed on each apparatus at the station to guarantee quick access during emergency situations.
